Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs)

South Bend Orthopaedics understands that Independent Medical Exams are a critical step in determining return-to-work status. Our physicians will evaluate the patient�s current medical status, with the goal of providing a comprehensive and objective report regarding work capaticy and any ongoing residual limitations. SBO is a leader in providing solid IME services and realizes the importance of timely and accurate communication.

Medical Record Review

South Bend Orthopaedics provides medical record reviews to assess the relative status of an orthopedic injury or condition over the course of time indicated in the records. Our physicians look for indications of a causal connection between the deviation from the standard and the injury to the patient. They also assess the effectiveness and appropriateness of prior treatment.

Peer Review

In a peer-to-peer review, South Bend Orthopaedics physicians will contact the current treating provider, review the records, and then make a determination. Our objective and clinically-based reviews concentrate on quality of care, medical necessity, physician practice patterns, and treatment determinations.
