As an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Warrender’s approach to promoting better musculoskeletal health goes beyond traditional treatments. He believes in a holistic approach that integrates lab testing, personalized nutrition guidance, and targeted supplementation to address the root causes of musculoskeletal issues. By combining his expertise in orthopedics with a focus
on optimizing overall health, he strives to provide comprehensive care that supports his patients’ well-being from the inside out. Dr. Warrender is dedicated to helping individuals achieve optimal musculoskeletal health through a proactive and personalized approach that emphasizes the importance of nutrition, lifestyle modifications, and evidence-based interventions.
Dr. Warrender is honored to serve as the Director of the Bone Health Clinic at South Bend Orthopaedics, where he leads a dedicated team in helping patients optimize their bone health and minimize the risk of fractures. With a focus on preventive care and comprehensive treatment strategies, Dr. Warrender and his team work closely with patients to assess their bone health
status, identify risk factors for fractures, and develop personalized plans to promote strong and healthy bones. Through a combination of advanced diagnostic tools, evidence-based treatments, and patient education, the Bone Health Clinic
aims to empower individuals to proactively manage their bone health and reduce the impact of osteoporosis and related conditions. Dr. Warrender’s commitment to excellence and patient-centered care ensures that each individual receives
the specialized attention and support needed to achieve optimal bone health and overall well-being.
Dr. Warrender is proud to be the only hand surgeon in the area offering percutaneous needle aponeurotomy, also known as
percutaneous fasciotomy, as a minimally invasive office-based procedure for the treatment of Dupuytren’s contracture. This technique allows for precise release of the contracture bands in the palm and fingers through small needle punctures, resulting in improved hand function and reduced recovery time compared to traditional surgical methods. Dr. Warrender is dedicated to providing his patients with effective and minimally invasive solutions, helping them regain mobility and quality of life with minimal disruption to their daily activities.
After graduating from the University of Notre Dame where he played baseball for the Fighting Irish, he completed medical school and an Orthopaedic Surgical Residency at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. He followed this with a fellowship in Hand, Wrist and Elbow Surgery at the Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center in Indianapolis before returning to South Bend.
Dr. Warrender has authored 25 journal articles and 5 book chapters on hand and upper extremity surgery and has presented his research nationally. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the American Association for Hand Surgery.
Dr. Warrender is a consulting physician for the athletic department at the University of Notre Dame.
