When to visit the Emergency Room

Treatment in an emergency department can cost 2 to 3 times more than the same care in your doctor's office. You need to decide how serious it is and how soon to get medical care

  • When the bone is fractured at a severe angle.
  • When there are cuts and/or deep lacerations.
  • When the area is burned.
  • When the bone is visible or there is an open wound over the fracture (compound fracture).
  • Trouble breathing / Passing out / fainting
  • Heavy bleeding / Coughing or throwing up blood
  • Severe allergic reaction with trouble breathing, swelling, hives


When to visit an Urgent Care

If your problem is not life threatening or risking disability you can choose to visit a Urgent Care Clinic. The kinds of problems an urgent care clinic can deal with include:

  • Common Colds
  • The flu
  • Earaches
  • Sore throats
  • Migraines, low-grade fevers
  • Limited rashes
  • When condition is not related to bones, joints, or muscles.
